The pressure (force per unit area) exerted
by the atmosphere on any surface by virtue of its weight is called atmospheric pressure; it is
equivalent to the weight of a vertical column of air extending above a surface of unit area,
measured in millimeter (mm) or millibar (mb). The atmospheric pressure in standard state is
equal to the pressure that produced by 760mm height of mercury column which equivalent to
1013.25mb. |
