
At 8 a.m. on 23 June 2009, a tropical disturbance developed into a tropical depression at the east of the Philippines over Pacific (11.0°N, 126.9°E, central pressure 1000 hPa), it was moving west-northwestwards at 12km/h with maximum sustained wind speed near the center 54km/h.
At 2 p.m. on the same day, the tropical depression reinforced into tropical storm (12.2°N, 125.6°E, central pressure 998 hPa) and was named Nangka (0904). It was moving northwestwards at 20km/h with maximum sustained wind speed near the center 67km/h, and was heading to the Philippines.
Nangka made landfall at the Philippines on 24 June and was moving northwestwards at 20km/h. After crossing over midland and northern part of the Philippines, Nangka entered South China Sea on 25 June and was located within about 800 km of Macao.
Nangka moved steadily north-northwestwards at about 24km/h afterwards. Then made second landfall nearby Huilai county, Guangdong Province before dawn on 27 June. It was located about 130 km northeast of Macao. Nangka weakened into tropical depression and dissipated over inland gradually.
