A tropical disturbance developed east of Philippines in northwest Pacific(14.3¢XN, 109.6¢XE). It strengthened to a tropical depression early morning on 5th August. At 2pm, it continued to strengthen into a tropical storm. It was named as ¡§Pabuk¡¨ (0706) with central pressure 1000 hPa, maximum substained wind of 65km/h. It moved northwestward with the velocity of 22km/h. At 2pm on 6th August, under the west-northwesterly track, Pabuk intensified into a severe tropical storm, located southeast of Naha, Okinawa (21.4¢XN, 130.4¢XE). Central pressure was 992 hPa, maximum substained wind near center was 93 km/h. At 5pm on 7th August, Pabuk approached southern coast of Taiwan (22.3¢XN, 122.5¢XE), after crossing over Hengchun Peninsula in Pingtung County , Pabuk entered Taiwan Strait and was centered within 800 kilometers of Macao. It further moved to the west with velocity of 25 km/h and weakened into a tropical storm at 8pm that day. At 2am on 9th August, Pabuk re-downgraded into a tropical depression, it was located about 110 km east of Macao, passing by south of Macao with 25 km/h moving westward. At 10am, it was located 15 km south-southwest of Macao and was moving westward with velocity of 20 km/h aiming towards Guangdong coastal area. It reduced its velocity until almost stationary at west of Pearl River Delta from 8pm till the morning next day. Early morning of 10th August, Pabuk changed its direction and turned back to northeast or east slowly. At noon, it passed by southeast Macao at about 15 km with velocity of 10 km/h towards northeast. In the evening, Pabuk changed moving direction to west, made landfaill in Zhongshan and kept stationary. It dimished gradually around inland and dissipited finally next day.
