A tropical depression developed from an area of low pressure over the northern part of South China Sea (18.0¢XN,115.5¢XE), about 350km east-northeast of Xisha around 03UTC on 12th September, with central pressure of 1000hPa and the maximum sustained wind speed near its center reached 47km/h. It took northwesterly track with a speed of 11km/h and headed towards the South China coastal area. Slight intensification occurred in the following evening and the maximum sustained wind speed raised to 56km/h. It veered to a west-northwest direction when it moved to the waters about 260km south-southeast of Macao(20.2¢XN,115.0¢XE) and kept on moving steadily. Around 00UTC on 13th September, it skirted the region about 150km south-southwest of Macao and weakened into an area of low pressure over coastal waters of western Guangdong the following night.
